Dr. Michelle Elliott

Dr. Elliott graduated from the University of Waterloo in 1999 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry, as well as, her Doctor of Optometry degree. She received several awards while at the University of Waterloo including the Corning Low Vision Award, The Canadian Contact Lens Society Prize and two scholarships for summer research. Before starting private practice in B.C., Dr. Elliott worked at the Centre for Contact Lens Research in Waterloo conducting research primarily in the area of dry eye. She has published many research papers and has been an associate editor of Practical Optometry (research journal).

Dr. Elliott has volunteered as a Complaints Investigator for the College of Optometrists of B.C. She has also served as a Director for the B.C. Doctors of Optometry, chairperson of the Motor Vehicle Taskforce for the B.C. Association of Optometrists and a member of the B.C. Driver’s Fitness Advisory Committee.

Dr. Elliott was a member of the Rotary Club of White Rock for 11 years. During that time Spectrum Optometry and the Rotary Club of White Rock partnered together to provide eye care missions to Honduras.

Dr. Elliott has been practicing at Spectrum Optometry since she took over ownership of the clinic in 2002. She enjoys working with her husband, Matthew Elliott, who is the clinic manager. They both enjoy living and working in the White Rock/South Surrey communities.

 

Dr. Christina Chen

Born and raised in Richmond, BC, Dr. Chen completed her Bachelor of Science at the University of Waterloo. She continued her education at the University of Waterloo for her Doctor of Optometry degree, where she was the recipient of the VSP/AAOF Practice Excellence Award and the Alcon Award for Excellence in Contact Lenses. Wanting to pursue her interest in specialty contact lenses and myopia management, she further completed a Cornea and Contact Lens residency and went on to become Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry. As well as serving as a clinical supervisor and lecturer, Dr. Chen has also lectured for the New Brunswick Association of Optometrist on the topic of orthokeratology in myopia management. She is passionate about fitting therapeutic contact lenses for various eye conditions such as keratoconus, post-LASIK ectasia, and ocular disfigurements.

When not looking at eyeballs, Dr. Chen enjoys hiking, baking and playing with her cats. She is fluent in English and conversational Mandarin and French.
